New Opaskwayak Website Launched

New Website Launched

As part of Opaskwayak’s commitment to increase communication with members, the new website (phase one) has been launched, bringing together information from Chief and Council, all the councils and boards, the Executive Team and the administration of the branches.

“This is a great step forward for Opaskwayak as we continue to bring all our services together in support of our Community,” says Chief Sydney Ballantyne. “We want the website to become the one-stop shop for our members on and off reserve and represent our Nation to partners and visitors. Over time, it will be a strong reflection of our Cree language and our culture.”

The site is actually 8 websites in one – the main Opaskwayak site and a site for each of the seven branches. It includes a news blog and events, and will be updated to include a centralized place for careers, and rfp and tenders.

The site will be changing and growing every day to feature highlights of Opaskwayak and Cree culture, including ceremonies, arts, traditional stories and more.

One of the key sections of the website today is the Community Master Plan – a great example of the community and all the branches coming together. The plan appears on the main site and across all branches, because everyone has a role in moving the plan forward.

“This is just one of the ways that we are increasing our communication with the community,” adds Chief Ballantyne. “This website has been under development for a few years, which shows what a commitment and group effort good communication is. Now that it’s here, we’ll be working closely to ensure it meets the needs of our community, our organization and our partners and becomes a point of pride for Opaskwayak.”
